Rigi is also called the queen of mountains and during this day tour you will discover the majestic round views from the top of mount Rigi. The tour will start in Lucerne with a boat ride to Vitznau. In Vitznau we will board the oldest rack railway in Europe, which was established in 1871. The cog train takes us to the top of mount Rigi from where you will enjoy the views.
The American author Mark Twain hiked on the Rigi in 1879. He recorded his experiences in his diary and we will explore the mountain in the footsteps of Mark Twain. The hike down to Rigi Kaltbad is roughly one hour. On the way we pass the Rigi Edelweiss restaurant with refreshing drinks and snacks.
The hike offers splendid views of Lake Lucerne sparkling in various shades of blue.
Rigi Kaltbad is located at the middle station, a former pilgrimage site with a simple chapel invites hikers for a short visit. After lunch at Rigi Kaltbad I will take you to some cliff walk. No worries! You will be totally safe except for your head spinning with the incredible views.
When you’ve had enough of hiking a cable car will take us back down to the lake side in Weggis. From where we will take a boat trip back to Lucerne. (6-8hours)
Its quite common to see cows around the trails
